Bright late morning sunshine teased Lina awake, and she found her nose
pressed up against a bare masculine chest, drool coming out of her mouth
and a somewhat sticky and bloody handkerchief between her bare thighs.
Whoa!" she said in somewhat confusion. "Well, this hair mixed with mine
and, ptui, getting in my mouth is yellow. This better be Gourry."
Brushing the long strands of hair out of her face, she craned her head
back and looked up in relief to see it was, indeed, her long time
companion. She was gathered in his arms, and one of his long legs was
across both of hers. Amazingly, she didn't scream or reflexively inflict
bodily harm on him. A warm feeling of contentment seemed to suffuse her,
and she found a surprisng smile on her face. She also noticed somehow
the ceiling seemed higher than it should be. She carefully twisted head
and shoulder to face away from the swordsman and was confronted with
some of their clothes co-mingling with the dust bunnies under the bed.
Hmmm. Why could she see under the bed? Oh, their mattress was on the
floor. She remembered why and with a little difficulty turned back on
her side to snuggle her face in Gourry's chest again.
Argh, Gourry, your leg is heavy," she muttered, still with that little
smile on her face, and tried to shove his leg off. He stirred a bit,
and, after moving his limb off of both of hers, kissed the top of her
head, and rested his cheek on it. The events of the previous day
walloped her unexpectedly once again. Uncharacteristic and uncalled-for
tears started to well up in her eyes. Her throat felt like a lump of
cold oatmeal was stuck in it as she remembered.

"Gourry !" Lina shrieked as, thanks to her carelessness and
overconfidence, he purposely took a hit meant for her. The demon was not
the only one getting in a strike, however. As he took the blow, Gourry
managed to slice through the mazoku with the Blast Blade, which
obliterated said entity.
Oh, crap!" Lina breathed as she watched Gourry's body then fly into the
waters of the murky lake next to the bandits' den. Lina and Sylphiel,
with tears running down her face, quickly cast spells on themselves to
enable them to breath under water. They dove in to look for Gourry, who
had sunk to the bottom of the lake due to the weight of his armor and
his loss of consciousness.
Peering through the muddy waters, Lina prayed, "Gourry, please don't be
a dead jellyfish, and please, ye gods, show me where he is!"
As if in answer, she saw a something like golden weeds waving back and
forth among the vegetation on the bottom. Yes, it was he! Lina swam down
to him and, putting her hands under his armpits, started to swim to the
surface. Sylphiel joined her and helped pull him to shore
After quickly removing his armor, Sylphiel put her head to Gourry's
chest and listened. "He's not breathing, but I think I hear a very faint
heart beat. We must get the water out of his lungs fast."
When they forced the water out of his lungs, they found it was tinged
with blood. "Oh, lords," Sylphiel exclaimed, "He has internal injuries.
Amelia, come help me heal them. Lina, you give him artificial
respiration while we work on the injuries."
Lina shrilled, "I'll kill you, if you die on me, jellyfish!" and
positioning his head at the proper angle, started to give him mouth to
mouth.
After a couple of minutes, Sylphiel sat back on her heels and covered
her face with her hands. "I'm going to have to cast Resurrection.
Amelia, hold my hand and add your power to mine."
Biting her lower lip, Lina closed her eyes, and without warning, she
fell over into a deep trance. She found herself on the astral plane
staring at the back of Gourry. He was beginning to fade.
"Gourry! Don't you dare leave me! I'll give you such a fireball!"
He turned around and sadly regarded her. "I've done as I promised and
protected you for the rest of my life. I figured it would probably be
short."
She folded her arms and glared, "If you don't come back with me, then
I'll die right now, too."
"Lina, don't. That's stupid and unlike you. What purpose would my death
have served, if you refuse to go on living? I'm sorta happy. I'm going
out the way I've dreamed I should. The world still needs you, not me.
But, oh, Lina, I really don't want to leave you!" And he reached out his
hands, which were becoming more and more insubstantial.
"Who says you're not needed? You're my protector. Most of all, I need
you to protect me from myself. And, damn it, Gourry, we haven't even had
sex yet!"
Gourry's astral mouth opened and shut a few times, and he stared at her
in shock. She herself was rather amazed at what had tumbled out of her
mouth. Yes, they had admitted their love for each other a while ago, but
occasional stolen kisses were all that a sexually shy Lina had
permitted.
Before he could answer, a tall woman with a shovel and long, golden hair
materialized in front of them. Her eyes were covered by her bangs, but
amusement could be read in the rest of her face. "Ok, kids, it's neither
of your times yet. Youre both needed in your world. Plus dear Sylphiel
and Amelia are working so hard. They shouldn't get exhausted for
nothing. So get outta here!" She then gently but firmly whacked each of
them on their astral rear ends with her shovel.
While this was happening in the astral plane, Zelgadis had run to Lina
when she had fallen over. After dragging her aside and stretching her
out, he felt her pulse get weaker and weaker. "Sylphiel, Amelia! We're
losing Lina, too!"
Amelia had rushed over to administer mouth to mouth resusitation of
Gourry when Lina had konked out. She thought Lina had just
hyper-ventilated.
Amelia looked up from Gourry's body and wailed, "Oh, no! They are more
tightly soul-bonded than we realized!"
Just then, Lina blinked and growled, "Zel, you better be holding me for
a good reason, or you'll be one crispy chimera!" She crawled back to
Gourry and, kneeling beside him, yelled in his ear, "Come on, big guy.
Obey the Mother."
Gourry coughed a few times, opened his eyes and slowly reached up to cup
Lina's cheek in his long, slender hand. "Are you alive?" he asked
wonderingly.
"No, I'm a-Lina," she sassed him, "Yes, I'm living and, thank the Mother
of All, so are you, bran for brains!" she reassured him and clutched his
cupping hand tightly.
That night Lina was tense when she went to Gourry's room ostensibly to
say good night. He had just taken off his shirt to keep it from
accidently getting wet while he washed his face and brushed his teeth.
She stepped into the room with her usual cocky grin. Suddenly, however,
her face became serious, and she reached out tentatively to him.
"Do...do you remember anything from the astral plane, Gourry?" she
hesitantly queried.
"I do," he quietly answered and closely watched her eyes. He held both
her hands in both of his.
But then. to her embarrassment and dismay, she very uncharacteristicly
broke into hysterical tears, which, try as she might, she couldn't stop.
"This is so idiotic! Why...?" she exclaimed between sobs, but the
thought she had almost lost him because of her own stupidity hit her
unexpectedly hard. It could have been finally THE time out of the many
in the past that he could have died. Denial of feelings took its revenge
in full as she felt the true meaning of "hollow fear." The desperation
that comes with the fear of what could have happened aroused a physical
longing in her that she had not experienced before. It was as if she had
to confirm as physically as she could that she was not alone. She raised
her hands to bring his head down to hers and pressing her body hard
against him, began to kiss and caress him franticly.
"No, Lina, not while you're so upset," and he reluctantly held her at
arms length. "This is not the Lina I know. The great, beautiful and
powerful sorceress, Lina Inverse doesn't cry," he softly teased. A
pleading look came into her teary eyes, and so Gourry put his arms
around her to soothe and to rock her gently. It was lovely, but she
wanted more, and she was confused about her feelings as fear, shyness,
and longing waged war in her.
Like most of the rooms in that inn, Gourry's room was small. The walls
were whitewashed, and the square cut, oak bed was against the wall and
under a window. There was just enough room for a straight backed chair
and a wash stand, both also of oak, beside it. Wall pegs for hanging
clothes, swords, packs, and so on were next to the door. Gourry seemed
to her to fill up the room. Backing up and sitting down on the edge of
the bed with her on his lap and in his arms, Gourry quietly sang a
little lullaby which she remembered her father used to sing to her so
long ago.
Little bird, red bird, flying all alone.
Little bird, red bird, your soul is your own.
Sip some cool water; eat a little seed,
Fly, fly away home whenever you need.
Tired out from her release of emotion, she fell asleep, snuggling safe
and content for the moment against him.
Awakening to the early morning sun starting to peer through the room's
window, a still fully dressed Lina found Gourry's warm, gentle breath
and proximity of his flesh awakened joy and long supressed desire in
her. She hugged him so hard and planted such an ardent kiss between his
pectoral muscles that he awoke with a start and a shiver.
"No, Hellmaster! Let me go!" he yelled and began to push Lina off the
bed.
"Gourry, you dear moron, it's me, Lina!" and she clung to him and
managed to plant an awkward kiss on his lips while stroking a hand down
the side of his chest to the top of his trousers.
"Hel-lo? What have you done with the real Lina?" he managed to gasp. "Or
am I having one of "those" dreams again?"
"One...of..."those"...dreams?" and she bestowed upon him that very
dangerous, narrow one-eyed look a woman can give a man.
Gourry only gulped and wondered how the heck he could duck a fireball
from a prone position with the wall against his back.
Fortunately for Gourry, Lina suddenly grinned and coyly asked, "Really?"
She poked his belly button before starting to run her fingers up and
down his chest. Fear was still playing soccer with his ego as he hunched
his shoulders and slowly nodded in the affirmative.
"But you didn't take advantage of me last night." she wondered.
"I couldn't, because your feelings were kicked up by distress. Remember
how you treated me when we returned from the Sea of Chaos the first
time?" Lina blushed and nodded. "We had only kissed!" He tenderly held
her face in his hands, "I want you to have no shame or regret if you
give up control to do more than that. Our love-making should only be in
joy and without guilt afterwards. Can you really let go and trust me?"
Before she could answer or express surprise over his memory and
revelation of what had happened in the Sea of Chaos, Gourry raised his
head and looked toward the door.
"Excuse me a minute," he apologized as he pushed himself off of the bed
and silently approached the room's door. Lightning fast he threw it
open, and Zelgadis and Amelia fell into the chamber forcefully enough
that Zel's nose put a dent into the hard wood floor.
"Er, ah, just wondering, heh, heh, whether you...uh...both want to join
us for breakfast," beet-red Zelegadis explained as he tried to arise
from his position on the floor.
A rosy-hued Amelia squawked as she tumbled off him and fell back into
the hall. Gourry's sharp ears picked up Amelia's indignant murmur, "I
TOLD you Miss Lina hadn't spent the night in her own room!"
Gourry raised an eyebrow and said, "Lina has been very upset about
yesterday. We've been talking."
"Just talking?" The question with a slight tone of disappointment jumped
out of Amelia's mouth. She blushed again and covered her lips with both
hands as she scrambled to her feet.
"Just talking," Gourry affirmed and started to shut the door on the two
now in the hall. "We did fall asleep, but we still have to handle some
things that are hard to talk about."
"After a night with Lina and no action, I can imagine there are some
things still hard," Zel muttered and lowered his eyes suggestively.
Gourry was glad his body was partly hidden by the half shut door. "We'll
see you in a little bit," he said firmly and finished closing the door
on his friends. He turned back to face Lina, and, blink, blink: "Lina,
why are your leggings and yellow over-pants on the floor?"
"Uh, gravity?" she nervously replied with a large-eyed innocent
expression on her face. Her bare legs and feet kicked back and forth
nervously against the side of the bed.
"Are you really sure about this?" he softly, but intensely asked.
She gave a shaky giggle and cooed, "Well, why don't you help me take off
the rest of my clothes, and we'll see if they stay down there, too."
"Hey, I'm the one who is supposed to take things literally and come back
with a dumb reply! However..." With slightly trembling hands he gently
removed her yellow chest band and tossed it over his shoulder. "Yup,
it's landed down on the floor, too," he whispered, and, sitting down on
the bed and putting her across his lap, he carefully began to kiss her
lips. As the reciprocal kiss intensified and their hands began
exploring, he then added with luminescent smile on his face, "Now in the
further interest of science, let's see about your tunic..."
Her bra followed the tunic, and Lina felt a shiver go through her body
as he fondled and kissed her breasts. They both collapsed on the bed.
Rather tremulously she asked, "You really don't mind my breasts are so
small?"
"Mmmmmm...small melons are sometimes the sweetest, like yours,
especially when one has waited and loved so long. Five years, three
months, two weeks, four days, to be exact. Besides, when you're a lot
older, your breasts will probably still be perky while those with big
boobs now will be able to tie 'em in a knot and throw 'em over their
shoulders when they're old."
Lina had to giggle at the mental image she had of Naga as an old woman
and then drew her breath in sharply as his mouth engaged her left nipple
and his right hand traveled over her lower abdomen and thighs. She was
now on her back. One of his hands insinuated itself into her panties and
rubbed her mound gently. She felt a strange ache and..and moisture in
that private place between her thighs. Gourry's right leg was over hers.
She felt his hot hardness on her thigh, even through his trousers and
underwear.
"Uh, Gourry, about birth control?"
"Mmph?"
"Well (Oooo, that's good), most of the methods for females interfere
with the moon cycles and maybe iffy either in preventing conception or
could cause health problems. I do know a spell that can be placed on
males that doesn't eliminate pleasure but prevents babies. It was a
guild school "must-learn" for all girls on the traveling
warrior-sorceress track. You'd sorta be shooting arrows with no points.
"
He raised his head and his hair traveled up her body, causing her to
shiver in pleasure again. "Does it hurt?"
"According to the sources, not at all."
"How long does it last?"
"Until I or another sorcerer or sorceress remove it, so you needn't
worry, about, you know..."
Gourry took a deep breath, smiled just a little fearfully, and said,
"Ok, do it."
"Anyway, let's see what gravity does to your trousers and and underwear,
while we're at it, hmmm?" and she slipped out from under his leg and,
kneeling beside him on the bed, started to insert her hands in his
trousers and boxer shorts. He closed his eyes, lifted his hips, and
clutched the sheets as she caressingly slid the rest of his clothing
off. She gulped as she saw his member at full salute and murmured to
herself, "Oh my! He really is a natural blond!" Placing her shaking
hands on his genital area, she nearly drew back in fear as he gave a low
moan.
"Hey, I'm new at this," she replied and recited the spell as fast as she
could. She couldn't resist stroking and fondling the taut, engorged
skin, which felt silky and yet knobby as she intoned the incantation.
Feel anything wrong?" she quavered softly.
"No," he said succinctly and reached for her. She quickly tore off her
underpants, twirled them around her finger a couple times and flung them
on the floor with the rest of the experiment in gravity, before
straddling Gourry's waist. All her senses were heightened and the feel
of his warm, large hands on her buttocks heightened her desire as she
writhed her way down to destiny, and it touched the wet portal of her
being.
It was then she also noticed the bed squeaked.
"Oh, gods, Gourry, everyone will hear what we're doing!"
"Huh? Li-i-n-a-a!" he gasped in frustration.
"It'll be so-o-o embarrassing."
Gourry groaned and said through gritted teeth, "If you have fears about
this, we'll stop. But I'm going to need a lot of cold water thrown on
me!"
Lina placed her hands on the mattress on either side of his chest and
raised herself up to glare at him, "Hey, I'm not afraid of having sex...
Well, not much."
"Then let's put the damn mattress on the floor! But only if you are
really, really sure."
"Hell, yes, I'm sure!" she exclaimed defiantly.
Lina jumped off Gourry and the bed. He single-handedly tossed the
mattress on the floor and then, flinging himself on it, took her with
him.
"Thank you, dear," Lina whispered as she resumed her former position and
fiercely kissed his lips. "Aaa-aah! Ooooh, lo-o-ove!" she hoarsely
groaned, writhing and boring down on him as he thrust upwards. The pain
of her first time and the throes of desire warred for attention, and
desire won out.
Gourry gave an answering penetrating moan, and they began their first
horizontal dance together...
************************************************* ******
Trying to gulp down those silly, rising sobs after recalling all that
happened which had led at last to the consumation of their love an hour
or so earlier, Lina pressed the side of her face into Gourry's chest.
Gourry awoke fully and held her close for a moment before asking
worriedly, "Lina, have you regrets after all?"
"Only that I didn't do this with you sooner," she managed to sniffle
out.
"Well, love, you'll have to use the sheet to dry your eyes and blow your
nose, since my handkerchief has been used to other purposes," he grinned
sweetly at her. "Guess it's bath time before we eat, and I think we'd
better put the mattress back on the bed."
"The maids! They'll know!" Lina blushed cherry red with a slightly
panicked expression on her face as she quickly sat up and noticed the
now stained bedding.
Gourry propped himself up on an elbow to regard her seriously. "Lina,
this is an inn. I'm sure the maids have had so much experience with
loving couples, they won't think twice about it. Besides, we're not
staying here tonight, so you won't have to worry about what they may say
or do to you."
Lina hugged her arms and looked down at her toes. "I'm just
uncomfortable thinking how they'll talk to other people. You know, how
the infamous Bandit Killer, Lina Inverse, gave it up here."
Gourry sighed and replied, "If anything it might enhance your reputation
that you really held off so long. Most people have been assuming we've
been lovers for a while already."
"What!"
Gourry sat up and contained her in his arms. "Well, we've traveled
together for so many years and work so well together, don't we? People
are afraid to say anything to you, but out of your earshot, I'm always
being teased or asked about our relationship. It hasn't been easy on me,
especially with the gay guys. They jump to conclusions when they hear
how long we've been together without being sexually involved and start
hitting on me."
"Oh. I didn't know."
"But what about the future, Lina? What about other inns? Would you feel
better if we were officially married? I want to be with you as long as I
live, but would you truly want to be firmly attached to a jellyfish?"
Lina's chest felt light, and she started to shiver, "Gourry," she
breathed, "Is this finally a marriage proposal?"
"Nah, I'm talking about a proposal for a fishing trip with me as bait
again." As Lina began to look dangerously ready to belt him a good one,
he added, "Aren't I supposed to be the dense one? Ah-eee, don't hit me!
Well, will you marry me?"
"You do make a good bedwarmer, and you are a master swordsman," she said
lightly, as her face returned to red instead of the purple it had
become. "I...oh...yes! But let's wait to say anything about marriage
until we get Amelia back to her kingdom. If we say anything about
weddings to her, she won't let up on the babble the whole time we're
traveling." The enthusiastic smack she gave him this time was with her
lips, not a slipper.
**************************************************** **
After their little spying episode and tumble, Amelia needed a some
healing time to take care of the bruises she had suffered by falling on
Zel. In order to take care of her injuries, they paused on the landing
of the stairs leading downward. The dining room was very busy that
morning, and more time passed before they could be seated.
As he perused the menu, Zelgadis' demon sharp ears heard rather
interesting sounds coming from Gourry's room, despite the thick walls
and door of the room and the floors intervening. "Yes, I think we'll be
able to have a decent breakfast this morning without the usual
Lina/Gourry fight for food," he commented to Amelia, and, while she was
looking at the menu, he stuffed some cotton in his ears.
"Ooo, they have pop tarts, chocolate, apple, raspberry, cherry,
strawberry!" Amelia squealed.
"Maybe we ought to send some, especially the cherry popped tart, er,
cherry pop tart to Gourry's room," Zel said as his ears, despite the
cotton, picked up a faint, drawn out, ecstatic shriek of a certain
swordsman's name and a low, answering bellow of a sorceress' one.
"Except Lina would seriously hurt us, if she has enough energy
afterwards."
"Why?" Amelia innocently began. "Oh! You mean...?" And the princess and
chimera both blushed and stared at their menus.
"Oatmeal, oatmeal is good," Zel said to no one in particular and sank
down further in his seat.
Amelia just fanned herself with the menu and thought "I think I'll avoid
the breakfast wurst and order grapefruit instead of a banana or melon
balls this morning."
After their breakfast, which was, indeed, quiet without the Lina and
Gourry Survivor Show, they walked to the local shrine, where Sylphiel
had left them the day before to instruct new shrine maidens and spend
the night. They used the rest of the morning to investigate the library.
Around noon a slightly blushing Lina and glowingly smug Gourry finally
appeared to satisfy their now very large appetites...for food. Zel and
Amelia, back from their library expedition, looked questioningly at the
ravenous couple.
"You missed breakfast? That must have been some discussion," Zel teased
with a smirk on his face. "What did you talk about?" And he dug a stony
elbow into Gourry's side.
"Gravity!" Linda and Gourry chorused with full mouths and wouldn't say
more.
