Title:  At the Costume Ball

Zelgadiss stood in the corner of the Seiryuun ballroom and watched the dancing crowd. For once he actually didn't feel like a freak, but that was only because everyone in the room was wearing costumes. He knew it was an illusion, but he loved Halloween simply because it gave the world more interesting people to stare at and allowed him to blend in.

Shaking his head, he stepped out of the corner and began circling the room slowly. He'd promised Amelia that he'd have a good time, and that he wouldn't spend the whole night "moping by himself" as Lina had so tactfully put it. Still, he found it hard to mingle with people, even if they were all wearing costumes. It was kind of hard to explain that he was a pirate with blue, stone skin and purple, metal hair simply because he didn't have a choice in the matter.

He sighed deeply and scanned the room one more time, only to find an incredible vision walking towards him. She was dressed in a shimmering white ball gown that left her slender, smooth shoulders bare, and wore a pair of elegant evening gloves that matched the dress perfectly. Her hair was long, falling to her waist in a thick, purple cascade of silk. On her back was a pair of gossamer fairy wings, and her eyes were hidden by a white, butterfly-shaped half-mask. She was absolutely gorgeous, and she was now standing right next to him.

"Would you like to dance?" She asked him in a surprisingly low voice.

Zelgadiss could only nod mutely in response as he took the fairy's hand and led her out onto the dance floor. It was the first time he'd been in that position for longer than he cared to remember, but he wasn't nervous. Somehow, having the beautiful fairy in his arms just seemed right, and that feeling eclipsed any possible fears. The dance was a slow waltz, and it allowed Zelgadiss and his partner to get very close. Much closer than he had expected, actually. The lady certainly wasn't shy; by the time she and Zelgadiss had completed a single turn of the floor, she was pressed tight against his body and was nibbling on his neck.

"What are you doing?" He gasped out. He wasn't upset by her forwardness, but he was damn shocked.

"Trying to get myself ravished by a handsome pirate. Is it working?" She whispered in his ear.

"Definitely." Zelgadiss growled, leading her off the dance floor at the first opportunity. He knew he should be asking a number of questions at this point, but he couldn't seem to make any of them matter to his contact-starved body. They made it out into the hallway and Zelgadiss tried to head towards the guest quarters, but the fairy resisted.

"The closet is closer." She whispered huskily, indicating a door just down the hall.

Zelgadiss' head was spinning; he couldn't believe his luck. Pulling the beautiful fairy against him, he began kissing her neck as one of the questions finally reached his lips. "I can't believe this is real. Who are you?"

The fairy just shook her head, twisting in his arms in a delightfully teasing manner.

"Come on, what's your name?"

"Sore wa himi--" her voice broke off as Zelgadiss' entire body tensed with realisation. It wasn't, it wasn't--

He looked down at the now-blushing vision in his arms, trying to imagine the purple hair shorter, the figure taller, and a cloak wrapped around the beautiful, pale shoulders. It was. Damn it, it was. Zelgadiss' hands closed tightly around the fairy's arms, earning a startled protest as he pulled the white-clad figure out of a door and into the gardens.

Cold air struck his flushed face as they left the building, but it didn't cool his rising anger. He pulled his companion down the stone steps and then into the dark area that was between them and the hill. Once concealed, he pulled the white, butterfly half-mask off the fairy's face to reveal a pair of uncertain, amethyst, mazoku eyes. "Xellos." He growled with repressed fury. "What the hell did you think you were doing?"

The uncertainty was hidden as Xellos closed his eyes and smirked at him. "I answered that question already, only you were far more in favour of the idea at the time."

"You bastard." Zelgadiss tugged at the bodice of the white dress, and it opened to reveal the mazoku's smooth, flat chest. "You didn't think I'dve figured it out once the dress came off?"

The smirk left Xellos' face as he glared at the chimera. "If you'd just shagged me in the closet like you were supposed to, it would'tve HAD to come off." The mazoku told him in an annoyed, sulky tone as he crossed his arms in front of his chest. Zelgadiss stared at him in disbelieving shock.

"You aren't-- No! No. You do NOT get to be mad at ME! This is YOUR fault mazoku." He was going to say more, but there was a commotion at the top of the stairs as more people left the ballroom. Instinctively, Zelgadiss pressed Xellos against the wall and covered the mazoku's mouth with his glove-covered hand.

"You can't be serious Lina-san." He heard Amelia say from the top of the stairs.

"I am. I saw Zel practically drag that girl who was all over him out here somewhere."

"And why are we following him?"

"Because, if he didn't want to get caught, he would've just gone to the closet."

Zelgadiss felt Xellos' body begin to tremble slightly, and he looked down to fin the mazoku laughing.

"Lina-san, that doesn't make any sense. I think we should just go back inside. You'll just embarrass him now."

"Yeah, maybe you're right. Zel did look like he was enjoying himself for the first time in forever. Okay, let's leave him to it and go back to the buffet table."

Silence fell over the garden, and Zelgadiss turned his attention from the stairs back to Xellos. He became suddenly, and completely, aware of just how close he was to the mazoku when he saw the hunger that was in those once-again open, beautiful eyes. Dropping his hand away from Xellos' mouth, Zelgadiss tried to step back, but his feet were tangled in the folds of the white dress.

"They were right you know." Xellos said huskily, leaning closer as his arms slipped up around Zelgadiss' neck. "You did seem to be enjoying yourself."

"That was before I knew it was you." Zelgadiss hissed. To his surprise, Xellos' entire body froze. There was nothing but the stillness of the garden again, and then there was the rustle of silk as Xellos took his hands away from Zelgadiss' neck and pulled back away from him. The mazoku's face was averted in a way that made Zelgadiss feel irrationally guilty. It was not a feeling he enjoyed.

They stood like that as the sounds of the party grew louder in the distance. Finally, Xellos turned his head back towards Zelgadiss, though he still didn't look up. "Aren't you leaving?" He asked somewhat bitterly. "Or are you going to yell at me some more?"

There was something in that tone. Before he could stop himself, Zelgadiss caught Xellos' chin and tilted the mazoku's face up. It was so strange, being taller than he was. The mazoku's eyes were closed again, but his expression still seemed... hurt? "Why Xellos?" Zelgadiss asked, suddenly consumed with the need to know the truth. "Why did you try and trick me?"

The mazoku smiled slightly, and Zelgadiss knew what the answer would be before he said it. "Sore wa himitsu desu."

Zelgadiss sighed, almost unaware of the fact that Xellos was now leaning closer to him again. "Do you ever give up any of your secrets Xellos?"

"Sometimes," the mazoku answered, his tone low once again as he pressed his body tight against Zelgadiss', "but if you really want the answer, you'll have to make me tell you."

Zelgadiss' body shivered at the tone of the words, and his hands slipped around Xellos' waist all of their own accord. This felt as good as dancing had before he'd learned the truth. No. This felt better. "Fine then," he whispered, making it Xellos' turn to shiver, "I am going to get my answer this time." Before he could think about it anymore, he spun and lowered Xellos to the ground before coming down on top of him. His lower body sank into the sea of white silk before resting roughly against Xellos' hard erection as their hips finally met. The contact felt so good that he ground their pelvises together again and again before growing frustrated with the buffering layers of cloth. Sitting back with a growl, he tore the dress away, leaving Xellos' body bare before his eyes.

The mazoku had seemed like a vision from a fantasy coming towards Zelgadiss in the ballroom. Now, Xellos was an image right out of a wet dream. His breath was coming in short, panting gasps as he lay on the ground, his legs spread with Zelgadiss between them. His still-long hair spread across the grass and the fairy wings were crushed against the ground. With the dress gone he was left wearing only the long, white evening gloves and a pair of black stocking held up with a pink garter belt. Hard and full, his cock wept with passion as his eyes devoured Zelgadiss with a pleading hunger.

Taking a moment to throw away the gloves and sword belt that had come with his costume, Zelgadiss then lowered himself back down onto Xellos' body. He began to rub his cloth-covered erection against the mazoku's still bare one and growled in the mazoku's ear, "Still want to be ravished by a pirate?"

"Oh yes!" Xellos whimpered, frantically arching his hips against Zelgadiss'.

"Good," he replied with satisfaction, "because I am going to take you, and when I do, you are going to give me my answer."

"Yes, please."

Zelgadiss pulled away again, smiling at the little cry of dismay Xellos gave at the action. With deliberate slowness he undid the clasp on his pants, finally freeing his hard erection. Xellos moaned at its appearance before moving with surprising swiftness, taking the entire length into his mouth. Zelgadiss cried out in pleased surprise as his shaft was enveloped in that moist heat and he found himself rocking into Xellos' ministrations as frantically as the mazoku had ground against him only moments ago. He left himself enjoy the exquisite torture for a few moments before burying his hand into the mazoku's hair and pulling Xellos away. "No." He said simply before crushing the mazoku's mouth beneath his own. "I'm ravishing you, remember?" He teased before pushing the unresisting mazoku back against the ground. Xellos spread his legs wider in invitation as Zelgadiss positioned himself. "You will tell me." He said and then drove himself forward into a warmth even greater than Xellos' mouth. He allowed himself only a second to savour the feeling before he to move within that heat, each stroke becoming more intense as Xellos' body caressed him and he began to hear the mazoku moan. "Tell me." He commanded.

"Yes, oh yes!"

"Why Xellos?" He asked hoarsely, arching the mazoku's hips so that the thrusts would strike his sweet spot.

"Because..."

"Why?" Faster now.

"Because I--"

"Tell me." He wrapped his hand around Xellos' straining shaft and pumped in time to his rapid thrusts. Xellos lost it.

"Because I love you." He panted out before his climax broke and his seed spilled over Zelgadiss' hand. That answer was unexpected, and combined with the feeling of Xellos' body clamping down around his shaft, it served to send him over the edge as well. His thrusts lost all claim to directness as he rode the waves of his release, and he was left merely rocking against the mazoku's body as they finally subsided.

He slowly became aware of the fact that his head was now resting on Xellos' chest. Looking up, he discovered that whatever spell the mazoku had used was apparently done now. Xellos' hair was short again, his shoulders more defined, and his height apparently normal. He was also panting, his cheeks were flushed, and his eyes were loosely closed.

He was beautiful.

Zelgadiss let his head rest against Xellos' chest as they both let their senses recover. He jumped at a sound from the ballroom, and his soften shaft slid reluctantly from its warm haven. "Xellos," he murmured, "we have to get back into the castle somehow."

Xellos just sighed in response, but the world around them shifted, and Zelgadiss looked around to discover that they were now lying on his bed. With a sigh, he rested his head against his lover again and thought about Xellos' answer as the mazoku began to lightly stroke his metal hair.

Was it true? Did he care if it wasn't?

He really wasn't capable of the thought needed to answer those questions right now. He let his eyes drift shut, and was almost asleep when he thought of a question. "Neh, Xellos?"

"Hai?"

"Where the hell did you get a pink garter belt?"

The mazoku chuckled. "That's a secret you're better off not knowing Zel-chan."

"But--"

From somewhere down the hall he thought he heard Filia screaming Xellos' name in a less-then-pleasant manner.

"Never mind."

Xellos laughed and held him tighter before pulling the blanket over their entwined, exhausted bodies.
