Moonlit Love

"Why the hell not?!" Lina Inverse inquired in a not so happy voice.

"Because I can't risk the lives of the only friends I've got," Zelgadis Greywers stubbornly insisted..

"Damnit, Zel! We are NOT little kids! We can take care of our own damn hides!" she retorted, angrily.

"No," he said, firmly.

Lina glared at him coldly. "Fine. Go off on your own. See if I truly give a damn, though...you will end up crushing Amelia's heart."

"I'm not in love with her, Lina. I never was," he replied, not around to look at her.

"Is that what you want me to say to her once you're gone?!" she asked, incredulously.

"Hai," said Zelgadis.

"You cold-hearted, son of a bitch! Don't you know how much she cares about you?" Lina hissed questionably at him.

"Yes, I do know. Do you also know how much I don't care as well?" he asked, coldly.

"You are a bastard!" Lina growled angrily at him.

"And that's all I'll ever be," he added.

"Hmph!" Lina huffed. "I'm going back to the inn now. I've got better things to do than sit here and argue with you! Sayonara, Zelgadis!"

Lina then turned on one of her heels and stomped back to the inn. While Zelgadis watched her go, his heart was wrenching with sorrow.

It's better this way, he told himself. You'll live a happier and quiet life all on your own.

Zelgadis then walked off to unknown regions.

Back at the inn, Lina was informing Gourry and Amelia that Zelgadis had gone off in search of a cure with no intentions of ever returning to them.

"He couldn't have meant that!" Amelia protested.

"But he did, Amelia. He also gave me a message to give to you, but I'm not sure you'll believe me once I tell you," said Lina, hesitantly.

"I'm sure I will believe you, Lina-san. I mean, how bad could it be?" said Amelia.

Lina closed her eyes and said, "He doesn't love you."

Amelia, pretending that she hadn't heard Lina, giggled and said, "I'm sorry. I couldn't hear you. Could you repeat that?"

Lina put a hand on one of Amelia's shoulders and said, "I'm sorry, Amelia. But...he told me that he honestly is not in love with you."

Amelia shook her head fiercely. "Iie. Are you sure that he said those exact words?"

Lina nodded her head in confirmation. "As I said, I'm sorry."

It was at that point that Amelia broke down crying. Lina looked down at her friend and shook her head sadly.

"Gourry, please take her to her room. She needs a good cry right now," Lina said seriously.

Gourry nodded, picked up the young princess, and took her upstairs to her room. Lina just stood there shaking in rage.

I swear to you, Zelgadis. If I EVER see you again, I will make your life a living Hell! she silently swore to herself.

In the Shikasian Ruins, Zelgadis was looking through an ancient library for the book on his possible cure.

"Where could it be?" Zelgadis asked aloud as looked at the enormous library.

"Not here, I can tell you that," a voice from behind him said.

Zelgadis placed a hand on the hilt of his sword and said, "Who's there?"

"Yare-yare, Zelgadis-san. Is that any way to great an old friend?" asked the voice.

As Zelgadis recognized the voice, he tightened his grip on the sword hilt.

"Damnit you fruitcake, mazoku! Come out where I can see you!" Zelgadis yelled out in the empty room.

Xellos kept silent for a moment and then asked, "Why aren't you with Lina-san and the rest of your friends?"

"I didn't want them coming along," he said as he turned back to the books.

"And why is that?" Xellos asked curiously.

"It's too dangerous this time," said Zelgadis.

"As far as I'm concerned...it's too dangerous ALL the time. What makes it so different this time?" asked Xellos.

"The cure itself is too dangerous," said Zelgadis, who was still looking at the books.

Xellos was intrigued. "Oh, please. Do tell."

"Why should I bother telling someone like you anything at all?" asked Zelgadis.

"Why not?" asked Xellos.

"Because I don't trust you," said Zelgadis.

"Have it your way, Zelgadis-san," said Xellos as he completely disappeared.

Zelgadis sighed and then kept on looking. Why can't anyone ever leave me alone?

Back at the inn, Lina was sitting on her bed in a frustrated manner.

"How I would love to put him in a chokehold and squeeze the living daylights outta him!" Lina said angrily to herself.

"You love him, don't you?" asked a figure, which was phasing into her room.

Lina gasped at the figure and said, "Xellos? What the hell are you doing in here?!"

"Just checking up on you, Lina-san," said Xellos, who floated down to the ground.

"Bullshit, Xellos. You want something. What is it?" she asked with narrowed eyes.

"First off, I know what Zelgadis-san's cure is," said Xellos.

Lina narrowed her eyes even further. "And just how long have you known this information?"

"Just recently, Lina-san," said Xellos.

"I also have another question to ask you," said Lina with a sickly, sweet smile.

"And that would be?" asked Xellos.

Lina smiled evilly at him and asked, "What did you mean by me being in love with Zelgadis?"

Xellos coughed uncomfortably. "Well, you seemed so hurt by him leaving your little group that I obviously assumed that you're in love with him."

Lina glared at him. "Well, I'm not. Understand?"

Xellos nodded. "Perfectly."

"So, what exactly is this cure that you're speaking of?" asked Lina.

"It's a very simple cure, actually, but Zelgadis-san doesn't see it," said Xellos.

"Well, what is it?" Lina asked impatiently.

"True love's kiss is his salvation," said Xellos.

Lina rolled her eyes. "It's that easy, huh?"

"But there is a catch," said Xellos.

"I knew it," said Lina.

"The catch is that he has to be kissed by his soul mate," said Xellos.

"Nani?!" said Lina.

"But it's true, Lina-san," said Xellos.

"Well, this is just great," said Lina with an exasperated look on her face. "What do we do now?"

Xellos raised an eyebrow. "Why would you care? Didn't he hurt you and Amelia? Why care about him?"

Lina lowered her eyes to the floor of her room, guiltily. "It's true that he can make me so made at times that it makes me wanna kill him, but...I can't stop...I can't stop..."

"You can't stop what, Lina-san?" asked Xellos.

Lina looked back up at Xellos and asked, "Do you know where he is?"

"Who? Zelgadis-san? Why he's at the Shikasian Ruins," he said, matter-of-factly.

"He went THERE to search for his cure?! The big ass library there holds books that are only on the histories and wars of our world. He won't find anything there," said Lina, pointedly.

"It looks that way now, doesn't it, Lina-san?" said Xellos with a half shrug.

"Xellos, can you teleport me over there?" she asked, hurriedly.

"Why yes, Lina-san. But...first you have to tell me WHY you're in such a hurry to help Zelgadis-san," said Xellos, who was hiding a smirk.

Lina gritted her teeth. "Damn you."

"Your answer, Lina-san?" he asked.

"Must I say it?" she whined.

Xellos nodded. "You must."

"Fine, fine. I love him, ok? I. LOVE. HIM," Lina emphasized.

"That was all I needed to hear. Shall we go now?" he asked.

"Hai," Lina grumbled impatiently.

Xellos then grabbed one of Lina's wrists and the two of them vanished.

Back at the ruins, Zelgadis was growing exasperated.

"Damnit! I thought that it would've been here!" Zelgadis said angrily as he picked up another book to look through.

"It is now," said a voice from behind him.

Zelgadis spun around to see Lina right behind him.

"Lina! How the hell did you get here?" he asked in shock.

"One word. Xellos. But anyway, Xellos told me that he found your cure," said Lina.

"How long has the bastard known about it?" he hissed.

"He just recently found out about it, so don't get all pissy," said Lina.

"So, what exactly is it?" he asked.

"A kiss from your soul mate," she said with a tiny blush forming on her cheeks.

"NANI!" he exploded. "You must be kidding! Who the hell would ever kiss me?!"

"Well, you can always give it a try with the girls you know first and then build on from there," said Lina.

Zelgadis sighed. "I can't believe that I have to do this."

"Well, you do," said Lina.

"Well, since you're here now, I might as well start with you," he said, blushing.

"Well, umm, ok," said Lina, blushing as well.

The two of them inched very near to each other and then stopped. Zelgadis put his arms around Lina's waist and Lina put her arms around Zelgadis' neck. The two just stared into each other's eyes and then kissed passionately.

Lina felt a tear come down her cheek, while she kissed him. She could have let an ocean of them flood through her eyes, but she didn't want Zelgadis to see them.

Zelgadis' mind was totally blank. All he could think about and concentrate on was the kiss that he was sharing with Lina. He felt as if his heart had begun to swell with utter joy.

Once they pulled away, Zelgadis pulled Lina into an embrace. Lina hugged him back and then noticed that he was easier to squeeze and that he was softer.

"Zel, you're human," she whispered in awe as she looked up at him.

"I guess you're my soul mate then," he said with a silly grin.

"Yeah," she whispered, happily.

"I do love you, Lina," he said as he held her close.

Lina grinned at him. "Not as much as I do you!"

Zelgadis raised an eyebrow. "You wanna bet?"

"You know I love bets. Tell me," she said with sparkling eyes.

"Alright. I bet you that I can SHOW you that I love you more," said Zelgadis with a smirk.

"You're on!" exclaimed Lina.

"It looks as though you two are finally together," said Xellos from the shadows.

"Xellos, could you teleport us to Lina's room back at the inn?" asked Zelgadis.

"Of course I can, Zelgadis-san!" said Xellos, cheerfully.

"Then do it," said Zelgadis.

Xellos then did so, as Zelgadis and Lina vanished from the ruins and were brought back to Lina's room at the inn.

"So, what is it that you wanted to show me, oh wonderful one," Lina said sarcastically with a grin.

"This," said Zelgadis as he kissed her deeply, "and this," he continued as he made a trail down her throat.

Lina had her eyes closed as she gasped quietly, "Zel."

"Lina," Zelgadis began with searching eyes, "let me undress you."

Lina's voice was caught in her throat and once speech returned to her, she asked, "You mean that you wanna...wanna..."

"Yes, Lina. I want to be with you. I want this," he whispered into one of her ears, making her shiver.

"Please, be gentle," she said as she grabbed one of his hands and laid it upon one of her clothed breasts.

"Trust me, Lina," he said as he began to massage the breast in his right hand.

Lina gasped softly at the contact and leaned against Zelgadis for support, while rubbing her legs together.

Zelgadis then removed his hand from her breast, as he then removed her cape and breast band away from her. Zelgadis then moved to slip off her sword belt and then normal belt. After having done that, he moved to her gloves, removing the talismans first and then the actual gloves. All that remained on Lina were her tunic, bodysuit, leggings, and boots.

As Zelgadis prepared to remove the rest of her clothes, Lina stopped him.

Zelgadis gave her a confused look and asked, "Is there something wrong?"

"Well, I'm already halfway undressed and you're still fully clothed. Isn't that a bit unfair?" Lina teased.

Zelgadis looked down at his fully clothed body, smiled sheepishly, and then said, "I suppose so."

"Then let ME do it for you," Lina said seductively as she reached for the clasp of his cloak.

Lina carefully removed his cloak and then undid his belts. She then moved to remove his gloves and tunic. Once they were gone, all that remained on Zelgadis were his pants and boots.

Zelgadis chuckled deeply and then said, "My turn again."

Lina giggled and then Zelgadis unbuttoned her tunic slowly. Once it was off, one of his hands moved between her legs and unbuttoned her bodysuit. He carefully pulled it over her head, exposing her now bare, upper body.

"Don't EVEN say it," said Lina, blushing.

"Say what?" he asked, curiously.

"How small I am," she said, shyly.

"You are NOT small," he said.

"Do you really think so?" asked Lina, blushing all the while.

"I know so just by looking at them. You're perfect, Lina. If they were any bigger, they'd probably crush your body," Zelgadis pointed out.

"Hmm..." said Lina.

Instead of saying anything else to Lina, Zelgadis picked her up and brought her towards the bed. Once they were there, he sat her down and then removed her boots. Once they were gone, Lina looked into Zelgadis' sapphire eyes and said, "I wanna finish were I left off now."

Zelgadis smiled at her and said, "Be my guest."

Lina grinned and proceeded to remove Zelgadis boots from him. Once done with that, Lina realized that she and Zelgadis were still in their pants.

"Who goes first?" she asked, nervously.

"I'll do it," said Zelgadis as he moved closer to Lina.

Holding back his arousal, Zelgadis slid down Lina's pants and once he was finished, he let out a sigh of relief.

"Your turn," said Zelgadis.

Lina looked at him nervously and Zelgadis then said, "It's ok, Lina. Just follow your instincts."

Lina did just that and removed his pants from him as slowly as he had done with her. Once they were removed, they were only wearing a pair of underwear each.

"I feel so nervous," said Lina as she snaked her arms around Zelgadis' waist.

"It's perfectly normal," said Zelgadis.

"You speak as though you've done this before," said Lina, a bit jealously.

"I haven't," said Zelgadis.

Lina's eyes widened in shock as she looked up at his face. "What? Then why did you just act like..."

"Just because I haven't gone all the way, doesn't mean that I haven't done anything," Zelgadis pointed out.

Lina remained silent as she felt Zelgadis embrace her. Zelgadis then began to run his cool, stone fingers up and down her back, making her shiver in return.

Lina then felt Zelgadis lower his hands inside of her panties and onto her rear. She gasped as she felt the last of her clothing being pulled away from her.

Zelgadis looked at Lina's nude form and grinned widely.

"What's the matter with you?" asked Lina with a raised eyebrow.

"Nothing. You're just so beautiful," he said, huskily.

Zelgadis said nothing as he picked up Lina and placed her on the bed and onto her back.

"If it helps any, Lina. I'm nervous too," said Zelgadis as he lied down beside her.
