Chapter 3: Welcome To Radnah
About an hour later, I slowly began to wake up. As I opened my eyes, I could feel warmth on my face. My eyes jumped open as I realized that Gourry’s face was but inches from mine. I blushed and tried to move. I was stuck since he still had his arms around me. As I struggled, his arms became tighter around me. I tried one hard yank and that only caused him to pull me closer. I stopped struggling when he pulled me so close that our noses were touching. I was beginning to freak out. He can be such a deep sleeper. He just wouldn’t wake up. Either that or he just didn’t want to, but I wasn’t thinking that way. I paused when I heard him make a noise. It was too muffled for me to make it out though. It had sounded like my name but I couldn’t tell. He said something else again but this time he started pushing his nose against mine, like he was snuggling me I guess you could say. Curiosity was now starting to grow in me. I just continued to lay there and watch him, besides the fact that I couldn’t move too.
The third time I heard him say something, I could tell that it was definitely my name. Why was he saying my name? Was it because he knew I was so close to him, or was it because of another reason? He can’t have feelings for..... I immediately shook that thought out of my head. There’s no way. Not with the way he always treats me like a kid. He probably just sees me as his little sister or something. I looked towards the ground but then my mind started going berserk. I looked directly at Gourry and....and...he was kissing me! Gourry’s lips were actually touching mine. My heart was racing so fast that I got a tremendous amount of strength out of nowhere. I was able to escape from his grip and I jumped into a standing position. What the heck just happened? My mind was all over the place. I looked at my hands and covered my face to hide my huge blush. I slowly opened my eyes to find Gourry looking up at me.
“What....what’s going on?”
I fell to the ground at his words. Of course he didn’t realize what was going on. When did he ever? I didn’t know how to really respond though either.
“I...uh....I’m not sure.” I was now in a sitting position with my legs behind me. I raised my left hand and placed it on the back of my head. “Uh....nothing happened. Nothing to worry about.” I replied nervously. What else could I say to him?
“Then why are you blushing so much?” He said as he stood up.
I couldn’t respond to that. The next thing I knew, my fist went up into the air, as did Gourry.
After about 15 mins or so, Gourry finally caught up to me.
“Gee, Lina....I really wish you would just tell me what happened.” Was all he said to me as we continued walking to the next town. He was quiet the rest of the way though. I didn’t think it would bug him so much.
We had finally arrived to the next town or kingdom shall I say. It was called, Radnah. It was a small Kingdom with only a couple small stores but one really good restaurant. It was a very small kingdom that wasn’t very popular. It was usually mistaken for a town. I couldn’t wait to dig into a good meal. We had walked pretty much the rest of the day after what happened and it was almost dark out. We had to eat something.
As we walked into the restaurant, we noticed it was pretty busy. The rest of the town was pretty quiet compared to this place. It was almost like there was a party going on.
“Welcome to Radnah. The table over in the corner is available. Please, don’t mind the rest of the customers. They are just celebrating the fall of our previous Queen.”
I looked at the crowd as we walked over to the table.
“She must of been a pretty nasty ruler.” I said.
“Oh, indeed. She was the worst thing to ever happen to our kingdom. She was finally driven out of our kingdom a few days ago and we’re just so happy about our new ruler. So, to celebrate it, we are having ribs on the house.”
I looked over at Gourry and our eyes lit up. Then we both yelled, “Free ribs?!”
I looked at the waitress and ordered lots of ribs and almost everything on their menu. The waitress smiled and rushed off.
“I’m liking this place already.” I said to Gourry as I sat back in my chair.
“I agree.”
“But she has me curious as to who their Queen was. Could she really be that bad?”
